You are a glorious human being John Hodgman, if you possessed a Glaive as depicted in the movie Krull (as opposed to actual the pole arm) I would not be at all surprised.
Bloodred is a word, but when you spell it that way it is the past participle of "blooder" - a north country variant of blunder.
As you are Hodgman, that is correct. If you were Thomas Ligotti, I would go with "bloodred."
I think I would probably use "blood-red" in an attributive setting, and "blood red" elsewhere. That is, "the blood-red x" and "the x was blood red".
And I would use "Bloodred" if I needed a character name for a villain in a bad fantasy novel.
I'm with Rachelle. Sometimes you just have to give Webster the finger. (And I mean both the resource and Emmanuel Lewis.)
