I SAID THANK YOU

AND SO SHOULD YOU. It's the right thing to do.

EVEN BEFORE CLINTON'S very gracious and powerful (and well written) speech, I was feeling this morning that lovely sensation that comes when bitterness evaporates, frustration disappears, and you remember that there are bigger fights worth having.

THAT FEELING OF SPONTANEOUS FORGIVENESS, as much of yourself for your own stupid anger, as of anyone else, is the closest thing I know to capital G grace.

AND IN A WAY THAT I COULDN'T BEFORE (sadly), I now feel a sudden surge of gratitude. I am grateful on behalf of my daughter (and my son) for her campaign. I never really saw this race in gender or race terms before (probably because I had the luxury of not having to). But I think it's evident and remarkable that either one of them could have easily won the nomination, and from there the presidency. And that is inspiring.

IT'S TIME TO SHAKE HANDS, and congratulate Sen. Hillary Clinton.

That is all.

PS: Now what?

I only hope the Hillary supporters are as gracious in defeat as their candidate is. I hope that the "If Obama wins, I'm voting McCain" foolishness fades away with the hot tempers of the primary season.

PS: Now what?

I want everyone to recollect their hatred for Hillary just after it leaves their body, and then redirect it towards McCain.

It was a good speech, and a good audition. Now what indeed.

I'm watching the speech now. So far, I'm heartened by the fact that when she said her supporters should do all they can to get Obama elected, there was one loud boo in the crowd which was quickly drowned out by the cheering. Of course, as she said it, she sort of looked like she had just swallowed something bitter. Possibly her own tears?

You know, it really is strange. I have had similar feelings and I have never ever ever never never ever been a fan of the Clinton way of doing things. But after I heard of the private meeting they had, I started warming to her a bit. Today's speech was exactly what I think it needed to be. For the first time that I can remember I felt like I saw genuine humility from Hillary. I think both candidates are showing some maturity in the aftermath of the primaries and I hope that supporters of both would show the same.

While you are thanking people...

You should thank this gentleman. And I use that word in every sense.

All I want is Unity.

All I want is a good stiff drink, and to spend the weekend not thinking about politics for a change.

I'd add to Unity and a good stiff drink... maybe some cuddle time with a kitty cat. Or crackers and cheese. And unity.

When are you going to focus on the more important issue: The release of the fourth edition of Dungeons and Dragons? Get some perspective!

I was very, VERY surprised when she pledged support to the "Democratic nominee". Even after bashing him to no end. And brad o'farrell, we don't want to direct hate at any candidates... lampooning is okay, though.

brad - i have so much hatred for mccain that i don't think i could fit anymore in and i'm really tired of having any hatred at all.

do i dare to have hope after 8 years of seeing all my hope crushed like animal crackers in the hands of a school bus bully?

now what? hmmm... i spent the weekend playing myst v so i'm not even sure what age i'm in and i'm a little pissed off that i can't strafe in real life without falling over myself.
