YOU KNOW, I probably just should have twittered it.

That is all.

Ugh, how can you compare the two? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

A better explanation... (from several years ago!)

Small town Americans have over 190 million reasons in the last five years to believe that Hillary is in touch with them.

Seriously, though, I think the only thing that upsets small town Americans more than elitist rhetoric is when they are patronized.

Don't sell small town America short. Most "simple" folk I've met there have really good BS detectors. We just talk funny. ;-)

I'm not following where this is a huge verbal gaffe. Is the controversy really over his choice of words? Is there a better word to describe how people are feeling when they're denied opportunities? When they're arbitrarily shut out of desirable experiences?

Maybe it's comparable to the irritation I get when someone refers to me as cynical when I'm really being skeptical or starkly realistic about whatever.

Still, if you're ticked off because you're getting the shaft and you're getting your face rubbed in it, what do you call it?

i'd say i'm pretty damn bitter about all these rich #*$(@)!! getting richer while i can barely get by... and seriously, has one word out of clinton's mouth NOT been condescending? i recall during bill's term, she visited this area and went to a local cafe - upon meeting one of the staff who told her he was the baker, she replied "good for you!!". WTF IS THAT??

to quote bob shrum on 'meet the press' this past weekend (in regards to obama): "here's a guy who just finished paying his student loans, who was raised by a single mother and his grandparents, who doesn't know what it's like to have $100 million. So I think Senator Clinton has to be a little careful in pushing this because, frankly, she hasn't lived in the real world for 25 years; she's lived in a bubble."

raul, that's a great clip and a very good explanation of what he was trying to say.

I will never say that I don't agree with what he's said, but you can see how the eyes of the Right-wing pundits just light up with joy when they hear that recording from the fundraiser in SF.

And yes, I am thoroughly annoyed with the Clinton campaign and how they've taken advantage of this supposed gaffe right along with FOX News, it's basically the last straw for me. As much as I believe Hillary would make a great president, I just think it's time to leave the race. She's blown it, as far as I'm concerned, in every conceivable way.

However, the "purple heart band-aids" are 100 times more despicable than these "I'm not bitter" stickers. The former is mocking a genuine war hero's contributions and calling him a liar, while the latter is merely disagreeing with (while perhaps taking out of context or misunderstanding) an actual statement made by the opposing candidate. Apples and oranges.
