I HAVE BEEN OUT OF TOWN

...at the TED conference, and now I am trying to figure out if it really happened.

I KNOW IT SOMEHOW involved both Craig Venter and Goldie Hawn.

BUT THAT cannot be true, can it? WAS IT A DREAM?

Meanwhile, I just matched Mark F.'s contribution to Obama. I will let you know if he writes back to me.

That is all.

Judging by the Web site, it looks real enough, though if it is a scam, lots of people will be annoyed, including Al Gore.

Was it worthwhile for you, is the real question. What especially interested you in going and were your hopes fulfilled and in what way?

My wife and I visit Monterey often. Lovely lovely town. Some fine bookstores and the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a great place.

What a coincidence! I was also at TED, though it was more of a thought experiment than an actual thing you can attend. That's why I didn't send you an e-vite.

You were at TED?! I'm incredibly jealous of you, moreso than before, if that's possible.

I don't know if you're familiar with Sir Ken Robinson or not, but your mention of TED made me think of it. The video comes from a previous conference.

He's an expert on how the school system impacts creativity. You might find it interesting as I heard in an interview that your own high school education was unconventional.

Ah John Hodgman! I loved Areas of My Expertise a lot! I started making my own fake facts on my blog, taking after your fake facts. My dream, my life's work up until this point, is to have you see just a single one of my facts. Hopefully you will.

And I will keep up with the blog, Mr. Hodg!

Oh, and Ragnorock.
